Platte County Ag Society awards ten 400 scholarships
Thirteen Platte County high school seniors compete for ten 400 two year Platte College scholarships. Recipients include Wayne Babel Sheryl Birkel Jed Brunken Vickie Hassebrook Kathleen Hervert Tammy Knehans Patti Whetstone Al Wunderlich and Ron Zoucha. Three 2000 four year awards will be announced Saturday.

Lincoln Nebraska UPI reports Jimmy Carter led a poll of county Democratic Party officials asked which candidate would win a county primary. Carter received about 33 percent. Hubert Humphrey second with just over 10 percent. Henry Jackson and Frank Church each about 5 percent.

Lakeview High to Host Spring Concert Monday Evening
Lakeview High School will host a spring concert at 8 p.m. Monday May 3 in the auditorium. The high school bands will perform senior soloist contest selections and pieces such as Smith Chorale and Allegro and Nestico Eldorado. Admission is 1 for adults and 50 cents for students with refreshments in the cafeteria after the band performances.

Mental Health Board Names New Administrative Director
The Mid East Pobredha Mental Health Clinic board in Columbus appointed Mrs. Keith Swohn as administrative director at a Thursday meeting. She replaces Mrs. Robert Eckhoff who resigned to move to Holdrege. Swohn has served as clinic coordinator since its 1971 opening.
