Earthquake Strikes Kyushu and Shikoku Islands in 6.4 Quake
A strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake centered near Mt Aso in central Oita Province caused widespread damage on Kyushu and Shikoku. Eight injured and 180 homeless as 73 houses collapsed or damaged, rail and road traffic halted, and a four story resort hotel in Usa town collapsed with one worker injured. Two aftershocks followed within two hours.

Arrested in string of window breakings in Columbus
Eight Columbus man in shorts was arrested after a series of property damage incidents. Leon C. Kuta, 24, of 1416 14th Street, faces malicious destruction of property and disturbing the peace charges. Police said several homes on 14th Street and nearby, including Bill Merrill 1421, Henry Grays 1417, Bernard Petermann 1422 Lith, suffered broken windows and a storm door, with damage described as caused by a snow shovel.

Orchestral Concert at Senior High Auditorium Tuesday
