Final figures for Saturdays Walkathon benefit for the March of Dimes show a pledge total of 5971.20. Co chair Jelf Jaeger and Nick Conrad led the Columbus High DECA project with Bill Beawn sponsorship and Scott Ridenour publicity. There were 205 walkers from fifth grade to high school, with strong junior high support. The 20 mile walk started at 8 a.m. and ended at 3 40 p.m. Pledge per mile averaged 278.56 dollars. Recuitts doubled the take of a year ago.

Overtime rules expand for millions under new act
Beginning May 1, federal overtime pay will be adjusted for about 2 million workers. The Labor Department said most impact will be in service industries with shorter average work weeks. About 1,531,000 hotel and motel workers gain overtime after 46 hours, 1/4 million housekeeping staff after 44 hours, then 40 hours in 1977. Service industry weeks averaged 33.9 hours in March, retail 32.6, and transportation utilities 39.4.
