Columbus Library notes week with work
Columbus Public Library reports about 9 000 card holders with most Bookmobile cards. The service began in 1907 via federal grant and continues with Elmer Garbers driving and Mrs James Hike as librarian. By 1970 the collection grew from 10 699 to 41 245 books, aided by Carnegie funding and the Niewehner Kersenbrook addition in 1960. The library hours run weekdays noon to 6 and Saturdays 10 to 9. National Library Week urges patrons to check out and read.
