Billie McKinney 41 of Oakley Kansas died in a single vehicle crash south of Gates Nebraska. State Patrol said his car veered out of control and rolled over, leaving him at the scene. Gates lies in Custer County northeast of North Platte.
Nebraska Public Service Commission Chairman Duane Gay said he will propose a staff rule prohibiting attorneys from doing outside legal work during business hours. In interviews with four commission lawyers Adrian Fiala Jack Finnigan John Ragsdale and Paul Kratz the issue arose after a secretary flagged outside work. He noted commission work must take priority and outside work during hours will be barred though after hours work is acceptable.

The Hastings Regional Center in Hastings Nebraska has been granted two year accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals. Center director Mrs Hildreth Hustine says the facility is the only one in the state accredited in all programs including psychiatric care mental retardation and alcohol treatment. The alcohol unit is highlighted as one of a few nationwide to be fully accredited and could serve as a model.
