Two plead guilty in Platte County auto case
Dwaine Spike of Silver Creek and Mikel Jackson of Columbus pleaded guilty in Platte County District Court to wrongful use of an automobile after originally facing auto theft charges. They allegedly towed their own car with a stolen 1973 station wagon from Columbus Farm Equipment Inc and abandoned it by the Loup Canal. The Telegram had reported an incorrect charge earlier. The court ordered penalties of 100 to 300 dollars fine, three to six months in jail, and double damages.

Wagon Train Pilgrimage Visits Nebraska April 24 25
The Bicentennial Wagon Train Pilgrimage nears Columbus on April 24 25 with about 60 official pilgrims and 24 unofficial riders. The event includes a parade through town a softball game with U S Marines and a free program at Ag Park featuring Nebraska fiddlers and musical acts. The train continues April 26 to Schuyler then Nebraska City en route to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.

Baltimore sniper kills one and wounds several in downtown row house
A teenaged rifleman firing from a third floor near downtown Baltimore killed one person and wounded six others and a civilian. Two more wounded officers later raised total dead and wounded to eight. Victim identified as Jimmy Halcomb, 31. gunman John Earl Williams, 18. He acted alone. Earlier this week another attack at City Hall left a councilman dead and three others wounded. Lincoln, Neb. school districts will not receive state aid warrants until end of April.

Swine Flu Vaccine Testing Set To Begin In U S

George the bunny fed to 19 foot python at zoo
