Granbery Murder Case Opens in Circuit Court

The Granbery murder trial began in the Circuit Court with intense attention as Voorhies for the State delivered a 100 minute opening, denouncing the defendant and his claim of unwritten law. He highlighted alleged marital neglect, the wife’s distress, and the brutal killing of Washington Long, asserting the law’s restraint on murder and dismissing insanity as a dodge. The courtroom filled, jurors were polled, and mood remained orderly despite crowded seating.

Devilish jealousy cited in Maury county murder trial

Prosecutor Voorhies argued the defendant used rumors to justify suspicions against his wife and plotted revenge after accusations of infidelity led to a brutal shooting. He framed the defendant as a cowardly killer who fled responsibility, urging jurors to enforce the law to protect families and society. A recess followed the closing remarks.
