Colfax students named National Merit semifinalists
Colfax high school seniors Dustin Sandell and Susan Harris were named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. They join about 16,000 other top juniors competing for roughly 8,200 Merit Scholarships totaling 33.9 million dollars. Semifinalists were chosen by PSAT results from their junior year, and finalists later must meet academic, leadership, and application requirements. Harris is active with Amnesty International and politics, while Sandell participates in environmental and design projects including a MIT sponsored storm drain project. Finalists will be named next spring with broad college implications.
