Auburn crash destroys historic Placer Herald sign
A Friday I 80 crash in Old Town Auburn damaged the two story Placer Herald building area and toppled the 1892 Placer Herald sign. Driver Matthew Siizmann suffered moderate injuries and retired teacher Charles Wallgren had a broken leg after leaping clear. The sign had stood 43 years at the gas station site with historic ties to Auburn.
