Our View Penny Wise but Dollar Foolish in Colfax Budget
The Colfax City Council should shift from reactive to proactive budgeting, defending the 37 percent of the city budget spent on public safety with the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Officials praise PCSO’s community policing and rapid responses to incidents, including a hit and run arrest and a stalking case, arguing fewer deputies would reduce safety. Without PCSO coverage, risk rises in a city on major highway and rail corridors, where collaboration with allied agencies remains essential.
