We thank those who prepared and delivered food to the home, the doctors and nurses at Clifton hospital, J B Darden Jr and staff, and all relatives and friends whose thoughtfulness meant much to us.

E K Miears 84 a resident of Memorial Hall at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home died there at 9 15 Sunday night September 4 after a long illness He was father of Mrs Otho Jones of this city Born August 6 1882 in Troy Mississippi he farmed near De Leon before retiring in 1951 Survived by one son Ollie K Miears three daughters and several siblings Funeral services were held September 6 at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel with graveside rites at De Leon Cemetery Reverend Burns and Reverend Gigstad officiated.
Mrs Emma Ender 86 of Route 1 Clifton died September 2 in Clifton Hall at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home where she had resided since April. Born May 16 1880 at Bastrop she lived in Bosque County since age three. Survived by three sons two daughters two brothers one sister and seven grandchildren. Funeral service September 4 at Zion United Church of Christ Womack with interment in Chase Cemetery.
Dr. John B Parks Jr recently completed four years at Texas A M University School of Veterinary Medicine and will practice in Clifton. He plans to build a clinic one mile north of Clifton on Highway 6, using his home address temporarily.
Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Selmer Erickson Post No. 322 American Legion in Clifton will meet at 7:00 PM on Thursday September 15 at the home of Mrs. George E. Anderson 514 North Avenue H. All members urged to attend.

T F Crawford announced the Clifton Lions Club Peace Essay Contest judges Mrs E B Harris Miss Lottie Bettis and Mrs W H McCown. The contest runs with Lions International in 130 nations and ends December 10 with blanks available from Crawford or Superintendent Appleby. Awards include a $25 000 grand prize and $1000 prizes across eight world regions plus a trip to the 1967 Lions Convention in Chicago.
