Clifton Cubs host Goldthwaite Eagles in a non district game at 8:00 Friday night. Goldthwaite features state track standouts Charles Blackburn and Gary Warlick with strong line depth. Sunset Home picks architect for extended care facility plan

Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home Executive Committee interviewed four firms on September 10 to design an extended care facility and develop a master plan. Eugene Wukasch of Austin was unanimously chosen. October 1 set for a joint meeting to begin directing the project.

Booster Trip Set for Saturday Ahead of Central Texas Fair

A booster trip to advertise the 16th annual Central Texas Fair and Rodeo will start at 8 30 o clock Saturday morning. Homer McDougal says the route will cover Meridian Walnut Springs Glen Rose Hico and proceed a traditional path through Hamilton Gatesville McGregor Crawford and Valley Mills. A work night on the fair grounds begins at 6 30 next Monday to ready for the event and volunteers are urged to attend.

Shrine Entries Fort Hood Band to Parade in Clifton Fair

Clifton hosts the 16th Central Texas Fair and Rodeo starting September 22 with a parade featuring the Karem Shrine Motor Patrol Train and Clown Act from Waco and the Fort Hood Army Band. The event continues through September 24 with a Fort Hood Band concert, a KAWA Radio Jamboree, Uncle Joe's Carnival, and rodeo nightly at 8. Entries for Junior Livestock Show and Home Economics Exhibit are open. Clifton Civic Improvement Society serves turkey dinners.

Bearden Delivers First 1966 Cotton Bales in Clifton

Roye Payne of Paynes Gin in Clifton reports A R Bearden on Star Route 1 Clifton brought in the first 1966 bale of cotton on Thursday of last week and the season's second bale the next day. The first bale weighed 538 pounds and the second 560 pounds. By Monday, Bearden had sold neither bale.

Bids Sought for Bosque and Hill County Roads

The Texas Highway Department calls for sealed bids to grade structure base and surface 6.764 miles on two routes in Bosque and Hill Counties. Projects run from FM 2602 near SH 6 to FM 2171 north of Mosheim and from SH 22 near Whitney to Prairie Valley via FM 2602 and 2960. Bids due 9:00 A M Wednesday September 28 in Austin and will be opened publicly.

Clifton Police Identify Week Citations for Speeding and Bus Violations

Clifton Chief Eldon J. Forbess reports citations issued from Sunday September 4 to Saturday September 10 include speeding two, improper starting one, passing on left at an intersection one, and passing a stopped school bus unloading children one. No automobile accidents occurred in Clifton city limits during the Labor Day weekend or the week.

Mrs. Sinderud Faces Critical Condition At Veterans Hospital

Mrs. Edwin Sinderud, charge nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Waco, is told her husband Mr. Sinderud, a patient there, suffered a stroke and remained on the critical list after reporting last Friday and early this week.

Local Lions Hear Airport Progress Report

Clifton Lions Club heard Lion W L Spieler report on airport progress at City Hall dining room. He cited a $200000 Texas Legislature grant for airport improvements and $1 million in unclaimed gasoline tax refunds. Clifton received $7000 for a new airport. Three to four airplanes weekly use Clifton Airport. hangars will be installed soon. Dr Alton Lee of Baylor University will speak at Sept 27 meeting. Lions will sponsor a broom and mop sale on Oct 25.

County Attorney explains hot check law and penalties

Bosque County Attorney Charles H. Bolton outlines the Texas Hot Check Law Article 567b. He notes many hot checks lead to convictions when unpaid after notice and details penalties: up to two years or a 1000 dollar fine for first offenses under fifty dollars, harsher penalties for subsequent offenses, and that postdated checks are civil matters only.
