Cubs Scrimmage Waco Team to Play Friday
Clifton High School Cubs scrimmaged Reicher High School of Waco last Friday night and scored three times while allowing four. The Cubs improved, with No 2 squad excelling as Wayne Prescher and Robert Ledlow scored Clifton touchdowns. Coach Aubrey T. Roberts said Ferris High will provide a tough opener Friday at 8 pm with Clifton buses leaving around 4:30.

PTA Supper Set at Clifton Public Schools
The Clifton PTA invites all to a 7 30 o clock covered dish supper on Monday night in the Clifton Public Schools cafeteria. Bread tea coffee and eating utensils will be provided. No program is planned, but attendees can talk with local teachers and visit with one another.

Labor Day wreck in Bosque County injures six
Texas Patrolman James A. Wright reports one major Labor Day weekend accident on Highway 174 two miles north of Morgan. Raymond Trujillo and family occupants suffered chest arm and head injuries after the 1963 Ford drifted left and struck a stalled 1959 Buick tied to Raymond Gomez. Victims were hospitalized in Clifton.

Lime Plant Nears Production At Clifton Site
James Smith reports Chemical Limestone Products Inc plans first phase operation in late October at a lime plant six miles southwest of Clifton. The Fort Worth office is at 1519 Pennsylvania Ave. Machinery includes rock crusher and conveyors, with annual output projected around 600 tons daily and 300 tons after additional kilns are added.

Clifton to host the 16th Central Texas Fair and Rodeo on September 22 23 and 24 with preparations led by Homer McDougal and Gar land Wright. The Clifton Post Office installed a stamp vending machine this week to dispense five cent and four cent stamps. Postmaster Robert Baldridge Jr. said the machine accepts nickels and quarters for five cent stamps and dimes for four cent stamps. It sits beside the letter drops in the lobby with a nearby desk for assistance.

Hospital Head Selection Made in Clifton
Jim B. Smith of this city was chosen by the Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation in Clifton to serve as hospital administrator, starting Monday September 19. He has been manager of the Texas Milling Company in Clifton since 1961 and will be replaced after a long career including posts at Killeen General Hospital and prior employment with Sears Roebuck Amicable Life and Urban Renewal Agency in Waco. Mr Smith married Nancy Faye Strickland in 1958 and they have a daughter Ginny 2. The couple moved to Clifton from Waco in January 1963.
