The town celebrated a large Spring Festival despite rain and hosted a Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom with students, teachers, and several parents traveling to El Chico's in Waco and the Meridian Youth Center for the event.
Three Gatesville-Lampasas National Guard men Randy Hansen Randy Lee and Clarence Meissner left for mobilization with the 113th Company and a 26 vehicle convoy will follow May 20 to Fort Sill Oklahoma. The unit commanded by Capt. Noel McLaughlin is to 123 strong and previously served ten months at Fort Polk.
Commencement exercises are set for Friday May 17 at 8 p m in the school auditorium at Crawfills Gap High. Valedictorian is Patricia Gustafson and salutatorian Kathleen Ottmers. The list includes Cheryl Brown Lyndon Carlson Lonnie Flippen Glenn Hanson Geneva Lindsey Mike Paulson Cynthia Rogstad Arlen Sorley Marvin Wickman Audra Stockton Robert Jeffcoat and Jimmy Dossey with several parents named and one grandparent noted.
I express gratitude to my family friends and all for the lovely flowers gifts and visits while I was a patient in the hospital. Grateful thanks to the doctors and nurses for their excellent care. God bless all of you.

Mrs Mary Anne Dillon will address the Crawfills Gap School eighth grade at 8 p.m. Tuesday May 21. Supt. C L Mitchell presents certificates to nine students including top scorers Paula Bronstad Carol May John Hastings and Frances Sheppard. Other eighth graders listed with parental ties to local residents fill the class roster.
The Gap Chamber of Commerce held a noon meeting at the Long Branch Cafe with 24 members and two guests. A traffic safety film was shown as newly elected president E. D. S. Johnson led the business session. officers include Vice-President Ben Rhodes, Secretary Robert Prokschl, Treasurer Cecil Rohne, Director James Lee, with Ivan Johnson and Charles Buell continuing as hold-over directors.
Sunday night in May the CGHS senior class gathered with friends and relatives for baccalaureate services at the local high school auditorium. Dr Horace Goodman of First Baptist Church delivered the invocation and Mrs Gene Knudson sang two hymns, Dear Lord and Father of Mankind and How Great Thou Art.
Rev. Dale Yant of Crawfills Gap and Iredell Methodist Churches spoke as guest. Rev. Marvin Ottmers of St Olaf Lutheran Church gave the benediction. Mrs. William Whitford led the processional and recessional.
Following the baccalaureate services the ALCW honored the seniors their families and teachers at a reception in the St Olaf Lutheran Church parlors. Homemade cookies and punch were served.
