Clifton PTA met May 6 in Bettis Auditorium for the final regular session of the year. M. S. Webb of Connally Tech Institute in Waco presented a color film about the institute and discussed courses and trades for high school graduates pursuing technical careers.

Deposits at Farmers State Bank Rise in Clifton Area

Clifton School Superintendent Kent Appleby revealed the top scholars for the 1968 graduating class. Valedictorian Carol Bennett with 92.71, salutatorian Vicky Outlaw with 92.31, and third ranking Bill Carpenter at 92.27 led a class with multiple members above 90. Baccalaureate speaker Rev. John Ed Withers and commencement speaker Dr. John B. Davidson will address ceremonies at Bettis Auditorium on May 26 and May 29, with exams ending May 29 and report cards May 30.

Prescher Takes Fourth in Texas UIL 440 at State Meet

Wayne Prescher finished fourth in the Texas State UIL Track Meet in Austin with a 50.1 second 440 yard dash. He placed behind Ira Gordon of Tidehaven and a Barrett lad, plus a George West junior. Cubs Clinch District Title Behind Anz Shutout

The Cub Baseball Varsity clinched the District Championship with an 11-0 win at Meridian as Gary Anz pitched a three hitter to improve to 5-0. The team heads to a night game next Thursday May 13 hosting Jonesboro B District Champs at 7 p.m. under lights. Clifton could face Keller Milsap or Carrol in Bi-District play. May 1 Clifton beat Whitney 9-1 with Gar land Braune allowing three hits. Batting averages are high with all but one above .300. Tim Outlaw sits at .200 but strong defense backs the lineup.
