Hundreds of athletes from 32 schools trek to Clifton for the Annual Cub Relays a major local athletics event. The piece corrects a prior error showing Tony Hall’s time as 51.9 seconds for the 440 yard dash at age 15, still fast but not the national mark.
Drop Of Ink reports 9 fish by Bill and 34 by Nell between daylight and 9 a.m. Athletes from multiple area schools, including Blooming Grove, Cedar Hill, De Soto, Groesbeck, Hico, Hubbard, Joshua, Lake Worth Fort Worth, McGregor, Robinson Waco, Tahoka, Whitney, Wylie, and Clifton, will compete at the Cub Relays. Prizes and trophies are funded by local institutions, Boosters run concessions, and prelims begin 1:30 p.m. with finals in the evening from 6:50 to 9:00 p.m.
Qualified voters 18 and older across Bosque County will go to the polls Saturday for three elections including city council races in incorporated cities. The third race covers school board seats and related contests in participating districts. Voter guidelines and polling hours are expected to be listed in local notices.
The Clifton Record urges readers in Clifton Laguna Park and Womack to vote in the County School Board election. About half the $4,000 target is pledged by 53 of 1,388 members. deadline for contributions is April 25 via Worshipful Master Tommy Cox or Secretary Charlie Turner.
Clifton announces distribution of new garbage bags and makes their use mandatory on and after April 3 1972. After this date no garbage can will be emptied.

Trinity holds Holy Thursday Communion at 7 30 p m Good Friday services at 10 a m and 7 30 p m Easter sunrise at 7 a m with fellowship at 8 a m Sunday school at 9 15 and 10 30 a m Faster Communion follows. St Olaf Crawfils Gap offers Divine Worship with Holy Communion at 10 a m Good Friday and Easter Sunday worship at 10 30 a m with Sunday School at 9 30 a m Rev Marvin Ottmers leads the church services.
Election calendar shows April 1 polling 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for City Council and Clifton Ind School District trustee elections at Clifton City Hall. Absentee voting begins April 16 for the May 6 primaries with May 2 as the last day to vote absentee. Democratic and Republican primary dates follow.
Four people were injured in two separate one car wrecks in Bosque County on Sunday. Eddie Bean and Russell Benfer, both Clifton residents, escaped with bruises and lacerations after a 1963 Ford overturned near Clifton at 1 30 a m. Nelson Vanzant and Tollus Kilgore, both 45, were hurt when a 1966 Chevrolet pickup overturned near Iredell at 3 20 p m. Each driver and passenger sustained bruises and abrasions. damage exceeded 500 dollars.
