Bob McLean of the Social Security Office in Waco discussed Medicare after a Tri-Chem Liquid Embroidery demonstration by Mrs. Clyde Seljos. Refreshments followed. next meeting is April 12 at Mrs. J. W. Hood’s home.
State Senator Franklin Spears of San Antonio visited Clifton last Friday afternoon. He held a headquarters in City Hall dining room and met residents to discuss fighting crime. He urged improving local police through formal training programs, noting Texas crime grows five times faster than population and costs taxpayers 427 dollars per person annually.
Senator Spears urged establishing regional police training schools across Texas to aid under staffed cities and counties. He called for action to curb crime and described a three day Central Texas tour ending with an appreciation dinner in Waco after a stop in Clifton.
Cranfills Gap resident R H Ferguson 72 died Sunday night March 13 in Hico City Hospital after a heart attack. A retired farmer, he lived in Cranfills Gap four months and near the area 25 years. He leaves wife two sons two daughters a brother 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 15 at Cranfills Gap Baptist Church with Rev Gene Bynum and burial in Cranfills Gap Cemetery.
Local man C E Olsen Jr of Gearend Manufacturing in Clifton is named chairman of the Bosque County Chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business. Frank A Graham, district manager, says ballots will be cast monthly by members and tallied by Olsen, with results sent to Congressman Poage and State Senator Ward.
