Bi City Music Festival Hosted by Clifton Junior High

Clifton Junior High hosts the Bi City Music Festival featuring a combined choir of about 159 students from Stephenville and Clifton. Mrs. Katie Sue Parker directs while Mrs. Patsy Ruth Lancaster conducts. the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Bettis Auditorium with a diverse program of folk, religious, operetta, and patriotic numbers. Clifton PTA arranges a 5:00 p.m. supper for choir members and chaperones. admission is free. Local Clifton High School junior choir members are listed.

Post Office Special Services Fees Increased Across Board

Postmaster General Lawrence F. O'Brien announces Saturday March 26 as the date for higher rates on five special services. Money orders registry C O D and certified mail fees rise with new brackets. Insurance and registry costs for higher values are adjusted to shift costs to users.

Clifton Students Excel At All-Region Band Contest

Three Clifton students earned first band honors and six made second band at the Junior High All-Region VIII Band Try-Outs at Waco High School. First-band players were Bonnie June Standefer James Petrich and Lee McMillan. Second-band members included Allyson Prescher Janet Holder Mike Seljos Marsha Hill Mary Linda Wiggins and Ronnie Barnett. Durward Howard from Temple High School directed the All-Region Band concert at Waco High Gymnasium.

Heartsill Seeks Bosque County Support in May Primary

Tom T. Heartsill asks Bosque County voters for support in the Democratic Primary on May 7 1966. He was appointed County School Superintendent in October 1965 to fill the unexpired term of Andrew T. Nutt and thanks supporters for their kindness and influence. He invites contact if he can serve the community.

Winn Stores Purchases Clifton Variety Store

Gordon and Ashcraft Variety Store in Clifton is sold to Winn Stores personnel from San Antonio. Mrs P L Ashcraft and M D Gordon sold the business to E C Patterson and partners. Patterson to move to Clifton with wife and three children after school ends in May.

A large crowd witnessed Sandra Eaton named 1965 Football Sweetheart at Clifton High School. The coronation in Bettis Auditorium featured escort Frank Billman and a royal court with students from Clifton Elementary and Junior High, FHA and FFA representatives, and CHS band members.

Clifton High School Wins At Baylor Journalism Day

CHS students and adviser Miss Lottie Bettis traveled to Baylor University in Waco for Journalism Day events. Beth McNitzky earned a first in editorial writing while Mike Hoel placed third in editorial writing. Sixteen CHS students competed in multiple journalism contests, including learning about annuals and publishing.

CHS Students Attend Society Conference

Three members of the Clifton High School National Honor Society attended the district conference at Killeen High School last Saturday. Mayor Charles M. Isenhower said this week that City Policeman Clinton W. Dodd tendered his resignation to the City Council last Saturday and the resignation was accepted. No replacement has been secured to fill the vacancy.

Hanging Baskets Planned by Clifton Civic Society for 1966

Clifton Civic Improvement Society outlines a 1966 project to install 54 hanging wire baskets with permanent geraniums and greenery along Highway 6 and in downtown Clifton. The Community Public Service Company will donate crew and equipment to hang the baskets before Easter, as part of efforts to beautify the city and enhance its well-kept image.

Miss Ena Larson Dies Suddenly at 58 in Clifton

Miss Ena Larson age 58 of 209 South Avenue J Clifton died Tuesday at 1 20 PM of a heart attack while on lunch break at Clif Tex Manufacturing. Sports For Youth Meeting Planned

An organizational meeting for the spring and summer baseball season will be held by the Clifton Baseball and Sports for Youth Association at 7:30 PM Tuesday March 29 in City Hall dining room. Officers for the coming year will be elected and season plans set. Parents coaches and anyone interested in league baseball for boys are urged to attend.
