Mysterious Outlaw Dave Mather Watched by History
The Connecticut born gunfighter and lawman Dave Mather fled Dallas County jail around March 16 1882 and vanished. He rode with Wyatt Earp and the Dodge City Gang later became deputy marshal in Las Vegas New Mexico before a deadly feud with Tom Nixon and a final, unconfirmed end. His life intertwined crime and law enforcement across Dodge City Las Vegas and Dallas with rivalries and a rumored later sightings. Sy Mather offered little clarity on his brother's fate leaving many theories unresolved.
