Rotary hears program on Globalstar
At the Bosque County Clifton Rotary Club meeting, President Mike Mabry announced a Japan disaster fund drive. Cal Rueter moved to donate 500 dollars to the fund, and the club voted to send 500 plus whatever was raised, reaching 385 dollars in donations. James Cathcart of Globalstar presented a PowerPoint on the company’s satellite cellular and data service with 48 satellites in low orbit and 26 base stations.

Fairground work continues at Central Texas Youth Fairgrounds
Work on the fairgrounds proceeds with restroom buildings taking shape and a tree planting honoring youth donors. Dr Deb Tolman assists as Russell Necessary, David Bevels and Chris Sanders install ceilings while a recycled planting bed awaits further use. The 2011 fair runs June 6 to 10 and the public is invited to join upcoming work days.

Malott Nominated for FBI Trilogy Award in Texas
Bosque County Sheriff Anthony Malott completed the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association’s 49th Command Institute for Law Enforcement Executives in Longview along with adjacent FBI programs. He finished the Conducting and Managing Internal Affairs Investigations course the Supervisor Leadership Institute the Command Institute and the 21 Century Executive Survival Program. The programs emphasize real life contemporary and futuristic strategies for command level leaders. The LEEDA faculty are executive level law enforcement experts.

Skywarn storm spotter program set for Clifton March 29
National Weather Service Fort Worth and Bosque County agencies host a two hour Skywarn severe weather program March 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clifton Civic Center. The session covers thunderstorm formation, tornado behavior, spotter reporting, and safety amid storms with photos and storm video.
