Clifton City Sales Tax Up 96 Percent Since 1968
State Comptroller Bob Bullock reports Clifton’s one cent city sales tax rose 96 percent from 1968 to 1975, with $65,809.56 collected in 1975. Other Bosque County towns show varied gains and Walnut Springs declines. nationwide 780 cities posted increases, 30 declines. The tax remains a cornerstone of city budgets as monthly rebates replace quarterly.

Motor vehicle plates and stickers for 1976 will be sold February 2 at the county tax assessor and collector’s office in the Meridian courthouse.
