The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation County Committee announced a new small farm payment under the 1969 cotton program. Eligible cotton farmers may receive 11.26 cents a pound on projected yield for 35 percent of total allotment even if no cotton is planted, with rules defining a small farm as 10 acres or less or 3 600 pounds or less.
Texas Farm and Ranch Safety Council invites nominations for its Rural Heroism Award given at the Texas Safety Association meeting in Houston on March 31. The prize honors a rural resident from a community of 2,500 or fewer who risked life or injury performing a heroic act in crisis or disaster. Deadline is March 1. nominees should submit a narrative with all involved names and supporting clippings.
The State Seed and Plant Board certified a new pasture forage grass called Kleingrass 75 or Selection 75 Kleinrass released for certified seed production. Morris Kent Jackson of Clifton was elected as a Graduate School representative to Baylor Student Congress in Waco. He works toward a master of science in biology and will serve through the spring semester starting in February. He is son of Mr and Mrs G E Jackson of 1302 West Peean Clifton.
