Mothers of Clifton High football players meet tonight

All mothers of 1968 Clifton High School football players are asked to attend a meeting at the school tonight at 7 30 to plan the annual football banquet for players on both varsity and B squad.

Students Will Present Civic Program Feb 9

Two exchange students Miss Christiana Nana and Miss Hannah Nieff from Cameroun West Africa attend Maury Hardin-Baylor College Belton. They will present the program at Clifton Civic Improvement Society at 3 pm Wednesday February 9 in the City Hall dining room. Mrs N W Willett Jr leads the program and will host the students prior to and after the event.

Petrich Wins National Science Recognition

James A. Petrich 18 of Clfton High School is among six Texans named in the 28th Westinghouse Science Talent Search top 81 girls and 19 boys from 2,361 entrants. The 40 scholarship winners will compete in Washington for up to $67,500 in awards during the five day Science Talent Institute Feb 26 to March 3. Names of the 40 will be announced Jan 29.

Cubs edge Grandview for fifth straight district win

CHS Cub Varsity, coached by Richard Liardon, won 58-57 over Grandview Zebras to extend their district record to 5-0 in 13-A action. Mike Hoff led with 17 points, Kenneth Hanson added 13, as the Cubs improved to 10-1 overall and prepare for Itasca and Valley in upcoming home games.

Jaycee leader Billy Miller of Waco and Texas Jaycees will speak at Clifton Jaycees rejuvenation meeting next Monday February 3 at 7 30 p m in Clifton City Hall. Clifton men ages 21 to 35 are invited with no obligation said Vice President Frank Smith.
