Market Report Shows Ample Produce Keeps Prices Low
Texas grocers see large orange supplies and a predicted grapefruit record crop barring weather damage. Oranges and grapefruit in bag lots offer better value, with medium to small fruit and excellent quality. Apple prices edge up while many vegetables remain plentiful and inexpensive. Pork is stable with specials, fryer chickens attractive, and beef prices rising gradually though plentiful. A stew using little meat and extra vegetables stretches a meal.
