CHS seniors host chili supper at the high school
The senior class at CHS sponsors a chili supper January 26 in the high school cafeteria from 5 to 7 PM. Tickets are sold by senior class members as part of the fundraising effort. The Clifton Record thanks donors for a January 9 paper drive that yielded 5 220 pounds of paper. Winners in the county children's photography contest were announced by Winston B. Lucas with Anna Marie Radde taking first prize.

The Clifton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire at 505 South Ave. Q Monday morning and earlier to a grass fire at the National Guard Armory on January 19.

Grace Church names new pastor Reverend Tommy Needham
Grace Memorial Baptist Church introduces Reverend Tommy Needham as replacement for Reverend Dan Kyle. Needham, a Wayland Baptist College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary graduate, is close to completing his master of divinity and has served as music director at Northside Baptist Plainview. He and wife Nancy have three children and will reside in Cliftor. Visitors' Sunday on January 30 invites all to attend 11 a.m. service.

Immunizations against diphtheria tetanus whooping cough polio measles and rubella will be given free to children from two months to school age on Thursday Feb 3 between 10 a.m. and noon at City Hall Clifton. Families in the area are urged to bring previous immunization records if possible.

Clifton merchants who joined the Try Clifton First effort received thank you letters from Donald Braun of the Clifton Jaycees. The Jaycees and Clifton Bank co sponsored the promotion. Four burglaries and two arrests reported by Clifton police
Clifton police investigated four burglaries including thefts from a West Pecan residence and from Clifton High School. Items stolen included a color TV, shotgun, rifle, roofing materials, tools, and 140 gallons of gas. Two arrests followed a traffic warrant and a serious aggravated robbery case. An unrelated two vehicle accident caused minor damage with no injuries.
