Clifton’s Mark Kreid named to Super Centex Football Team
Mark Kreid of Clifton High School is named a back on the 1976 Waco Tribune-Herald Super Centex Football Team. Aubrey Roberts of Midway High earns Class AAA Coach of the Year after guiding the Panthers to a share of the District 11-AAA crown and a regional finish. Valley Mills’ Jack Roberson named Class B Coach of the Year as his Eagles go 9-2 and win the District 13-B title. Kreid, a 6'1" junior at 185 pounds, rushed for over 1,000 yards, scored 13 TDs, and made a 65-yard game-winning catch to upset No. 1 Aledo in bi-district.

Two Hurt in Saturday Car Crash Here
Two people received bruises and abrasions in a two car accident Saturday evening at West 3rd Street and North Avenue E. Pauline Seaberry and Nireta Oliver, both of 423 North Ave A, were driving a 1963 four door hard top. They were taken to Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation. Samantha Hardwick Pruitt of Turnersville was not injured.

Gearench Factory Hit Twice Break-ins Target Lunchroom Goods
Gearench Manufacturing Company at College Hill was burglarized twice in one week. The first break on January 4 entered through a window and stole change, candy, and cookies from the lunchroom. A second break occurred between noon Sunday and 7 a.m. with similar entry and thefts, plus a small hand calculator.

Jamie Zander becomes chief of the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department succeeding George Harris who retires in April after many years of service. Other officers elected include Powers as president White as first vice president Watley as second vice president Kettler as first assistant chief Seljos as second assistant chief Fuller as secretary treasurer and Anz as assistant secretary treasurer. The CVFD responded to 49 fires in 1976 and has 30 members. Attendance at the New Year s Eve Fireman s Ball was good and considered highly successful.
