New berry powders from USDA show promise for food use
USDA researchers report experimental foam mat dehydration yields strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and boysenberry powders that retain flavor and dissolve in cold water. If scaled, bakers and ice cream makers would be first users, with eventual retail options for pastries and beverages. Separately, molded cotton fabrics in stretch upholstery could lower furniture costs through faster production and less hand labor, pending further testing.
