The conservationist has led fund drives, served on rodeo and arts committees, supported Little League and summer recreation, and contributed to Civil Defense and program-building efforts. He and wife Louise, a local teacher, have three children.

Randles Open House Marks 34th Anniversary

Mr and Mrs C A Dennis returned home last Thursday after visiting their son Elmer Dennis of Arlington who had surgery at Dallas Veterans Hospital. Elmer, wounded in Italy during WW II, had a piece of shrapnel removed and is reported to be recovering rapidly.

George B. Cox of Wichita Falls has won the Clifton Post Office remodeling contract. His bid of 42459 dollars was approved by the General Services Administration. The Annual Community Public Service Central Division Christmas and retirement party honored Henry Nickell, Clifton area manager, at 7:30 p.m. Friday December 18 at the National Guard Armory in Clifton. About 175 CPS employees and families from Clifton and nearby towns attended. Jetton's Fort Worth catered a chicken fried steak dinner, gifts were given to children, and Nickell received a deep sea fishing rod as a 37 year service tribute, while N R Parsons of Fort Worth spoke and presented a camera from Fort Worth staff. Clifton Postmaster Baldridge says the Clifton Post Office will be closed on Christmas Day December 25 and New Year’s Day January 1. On Saturday December 26 there will be no window or city delivery service, but rural and star routes will be served. Regular mail resumes January 2. The week’s mail was lighter than typical for December, likely due to earlier mailing amid railway strike talk.
