Rotating livestock boosts coastal bermuda yield and profits
Soil Conservation News reports that rotating cattle between multiple coastal bermuda pastures yields fresher growth and higher production. A Hendimix and Pitts plot produced 11 600 to 15 dry weight per acre with 600 pounds ammonium nitrate per acre and six inch clipping every 21 to 28 days. A nearby El Colina plot, with irrigation, yielded 12 700 dry weight per acre at a lower fertilizer cost of about 3 46 per ton. Plan now to fence for two or more coastal pastures.
