Social Security Amends Widow Benefits and Medicare Enrollment

Changes to eligibility for widows and dependent widowers allow benefits on a deceased spouse earnings record after remarriage past age thresholds. A widow after 60 or widower after 62 may receive half the deceased spouse benefit, with adjustments to higher benefit if remarriage on a new record pays more. Medicare expansion targets all 65 plus year olds in 1965, with outreach to those not receiving checks or assistance. Contact the Waco Social Security Office for details and enrollment.
