Miss Carlson Dies In Clifton Home
Miss Ollen Carlson 74 of 607 West Pecan Clifton dies at home Sunday afternoon November 21 after months of illness. Services held at Our Savior Lutheran Church Norse with burial in church cemetery. Survived by sisters Mrs Alma Johnson of Breckenridge and Mrs Ole Howend and Mrs Christine Knudson among others.

Clifton High School girls A and B basketball teams opened the season with losses to Turnersville High School by 22-17 and 42-29. Boys coach Richard Liardon announced four practice games with Moody High School on Friday January 3 including both squads, with games starting at 6 00 p.m. District 19-4 champions last year, Clifton’s teams begin district play January 4 after Christmas break.

Vernon Hammond Killed by Rifle Near Clifton
Vernon L. Hammond 82 of Route 1 Clifton died about 10 30 PM Tuesday November 28 from a temple wound believed self inflicted with a hollow point shell fired from a 22 rifle between 5 30 and 6 PM He lived on the Whitley farm north east of Clifton and had been ill He is survived by his wife eight daughters and one son Verdon L Hammond Jr of Mosheim and a daughter in Fort Worth Funeral arrangements were pending at Brister Funeral Home in Meridian.

Injured in head on collision near Valley Mills
W H Tharp of this city was hurt in a head on crash about 2 15 Tuesday afternoon eight miles south of Valley Mills while driving for Central Freight Lines from Waco He was taken by Clifton ambulance to the local hospital with face lacerations six or seven broken ribs and bruises The other driver is said to have minor injuries.

Clifton merchants unveil a four day Christmas Opening from December 1 to 4 featuring Santa Claus on an elephant visits at 4 PM daily and Miller Brothers Circulama performing six shows in downtown Clifton. Elephant and pony rides plus four mechanical rides will entertain shoppers with extended hours until 9 PM on two evenings and 6 PM on Saturday.

Death of Pat Jackson of Tulsa noted in notice
Mrs. Odin Hovend learned of the death of her uncle Pat Jackson of Tulsa on Sunday November 21. Jackson had lived many years in Coryell County and was brother to Rev. George A Jackson of Denison and Mrs. C. C. Stryker of Fort Worth, formerly of Clifton. Funeral services were held in Tulsa on Tuesday November 23.

Services Held For Mrs Jenson In Fort Worth
Mrs. Ima Cook of Mosheim road and Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Harris of Waco joined Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Ingram of Temple in Fort Worth on November 1 for the funeral of Mrs. T. C. Jenson. The Clifton Record noted her death. she was the last pioneer W. M. Butler family member to come to Texas in 1872. The former Butler homestead southwest of Clifton is now owned by Elmer O.
