The Record earned third place in the General Excellence division at the West Texas Press Association awards breakfast during the summer convention in Brownwood. The staff credits the entire team for the achievement, noting it reflects the paper’s service to its community in a region with strong competition from many newspapers across West Texas.
Henry Brasher descendants held their 12th annual reunion at the American Legion Building in Clifton on August 5 and 6. About 65 attended Saturday supper. Sunday 94 relatives and 5 friends registered. A Sunday lunch preceded a brief meeting to plan next year. Esther Brasher, Mary Lehrmann and Matilda McFadden to organize youth entertainment. Cecil McFadden remained chairman with Joyce Stanford treasurer and Mrs. Ray New secretary, all re-elected. Many listed attendees include Curtis Brasher, Virgil Brasher, Hubert Viertel, Pauline Gatlin, and numerous Brasher and Stanford relatives.
Clifton folks Mr and Mrs Leonard Smith hosted last week their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Thomas Alexander of Lufkin Texas also visiting were granddaughters Kim and Kristi Washburn from San Ramon California and Mr and Mrs Donald Smith, Karen and Robin of Houston.

Don P. Harris of Clifton received a Special Achievement Award for superior performance in the past year and a cash prize. He is a Supervisory Electronics Technician in the FAA Engineering and Production Section at Will Rogers Airport Oklahoma City. He will soon relocate with his family to Guam for a two year FAA assignment.
