Central Texas Fair and Rodeo slated for late August
The Central Texas Fair and Rodeo set for August 31 to September 2 will feature a parade, livestock and home economics exhibits, dress revue, junior livestock judging, pet show, rodeo, commercial exhibits and a car nival. A breakfast kickoff, parade, and prize monies for bands and riding clubs are planned, with final preparations outlined by Curtis Bakke and Bobby Joe Conrad.

Clifton Masons Plan Centennial Fete In Clifton
Next Thursday August 24 Clifton Masons will host a centennial celebration for Clifton Lodge No 360 A F and A M. Most Worshipful Grand Master Jack Hightower will dedicate the new lodge building and take part in the centennial observance. The lodge was chartered June 14 1872 and marked 100 years in June. An open house will be held at the lodge hall from 3 to unspecified time.

Firefighters to Tour New Hospital Aug 21
Clifton Volunteer Fire Dept Chief George Harris reminds firefighters of an orientation tour of the new hospital at 6:30 p.m. on Monday Aug 21. The tour covers floor plans, equipment placement, evacuation routes, and danger zones such as oxygen tanks. Grand opening is set for Sept 10, about a month away.

Commissioners Appoint Jerry Hill as Constable
Bosque County Commissioners Court named Jerry Hill interim Constable for Clifton precinct and Kenneth Holmes for Meridian precinct effective August 15 1972 until the general election November 7. School Sign Up Underway Classes Begin On Monday
Clifton schools in 1972 prepare for the new term with sign ups for different grades. juniors and seniors register Aug 17, sophomores Aug 18 morning, freshmen Aug 18 afternoon, and 1st graders Aug 18 at 9 am while others start Monday Aug 21. Phil Gilliam Funeral Rites Held Monday
Phil Gilliam 66 died of a heart attack in San Antonio while visiting his sister-in-law. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Clifton with Rev. Frank Horak officiating and music by Mrs. John Gilliam and Mrs. O R Jenson. Burial followed. The late Clifton resident was survived by his wife, a Clifton teacher.
