Joseph Rhoden aged 63 of Valley Mills was found dead in Childress Creek on Farm-To-Market Highway 56 five miles south of Coyote. Investigators believe a pickup crossed the bridge on July 29 and flipped into the creek. time of death as Wednesday night. Survived by wife four sons and two daughters. Superintendent Kent Appleby reports extensive summer renovations at Clifton Public Schools. A new roof is being added to part of the main building, desks refinished, rest rooms repainted, floors waxed, and six new cafeteria tables installed. Band Hall and gym areas received fresh paint, new lockers added, and stadium seating repainted. Tennis courts will be retopped with backstops this fall. Classroom instruction starts September 2 with staff meetings August 31–September 1. textbooks largely on hand with integrated grades beginning this year.
