Heat and rain mix with forecasts of fruit crops as Easter frost risk looms. Clifton hosts a large inter scholastic track meet with Hillsboro and 600 Girl Scouts planned park events. Choirs, visits from the Grimlands of Montgomery, FHA activities, and local civic notices fill the week.
Frank Huffman remains in Clifton hospital since April awaiting improvement. Glen Beckner family moved into a new split level home on West 13th Street. Mrs Gerald Northrup and Walter Gallaway had minor and major surgeries respectively in Clifton hospital in April. Lester Clements from Watsonville arrived in Clifton for a visit with Wayne Gloff family and Harold Ras. E A Dahl and Patsy Dahl visited Longview with Floyd Eggen family and attended azalea trail in Tyler and services at First Lutheran Church.
The Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma held an afternoon meeting at the Bosque Memorial Museum Clifton on Saturday April 6 with 30 members and honorary hosts Mrs Ole J Hoel Sr Mrs W A Wegner Mrs R O Bass and Mrs Roy Avirett The program followed a brief business session led by President Mrs R I Marstiller and a tribute to charter members organized April 21 1934 The hosts welcomed guests and discussed Bosque County history including Jacob Olson and the Bosque Museum The social hour featured Norwegian cookies blue Vinkinka pottery and King Olaf demi tasse spoons as part of the museum’s displays
Items of interest shown as guests enjoy the current wood carving exhibit. The meeting revived interest and gained supporters for the county wide project.
The Trinity Lutheran Church Brotherhood in Clifton heard Bosque County Attorney Doyle J. Borchers discuss God Guides My Witness at the April 2 monthly meeting. Topics for June were announced. Four croquet teams were formed for games starting April 15 with play-offs after May 6.

The Ladies' Auxiliary of Robert E. Binford Post No. 8553 VFW in Clifton met April 2 with eleven members present. Officers for the coming year were elected including Doyle Hulme as president and Calvert G. Helms as senior vice president.
Jesse G Adams and his daughter Mrs Willie Williams and son Mike visited Clifton last Friday to see Mrs Adams and Sharon. Mr Adams returned home Sunday leaving Mrs Williams and Mike to stay through the week. Mrs Adams is a Harvey and Mr Adams a son of Jim Adams. Adams and Sharon recently moved to Clifton and Sharon is a Clifton High School sophomore.
Mrs Ralph Ray underwent foot surgery at the local hospital on Monday and returned home the next day. D J Harris of Morgan and Mrs J N Hanna of China Spring have been patients at Clifton hospital since April 8 and April 9 respectively. Mrs James Malone of Osceola entered Clifton hospital April 7 and had surgery the following day. Mr and Mrs P L Elder attended Easter services at Seventh and James Baptist Church in Waco last Sunday. Their daughter Miss Mary Elder, Baylor University student, is a member of the Baylor dormitories. The Elder family also visited Alexander Hall that afternoon.
