Lions Club and Jaycee members organize a Saturday carnival in Clifton for April 6 between Leon's Floor Covering and Clifton Telephone Co. The event runs from 4 p m to about 10 p m with games, prizes, and booths to benefit Lions and Jaycees projects. Communities like the Clifton Jaycee Ettes and VFW Auxilary provide food and drinks.

Jewel A Linberg aged 80 years 2 months 23 days of Route 3 Clifton and Throughes Beagque County died Tuesday morning April 2 after heart attacks. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Clifton hospital. Funeral services were held April 3 at First Methodist Church Valley Mills conducted by Rev A G Standlee and Rev Peyton Goodman with interment in Valley Mills Cemetery. A complete obituary is hoped for next week.

County Burglars Believed Caught
Sheriff A O Carr was notified that Jasper officers held a man and woman believed to fit suspects in the Meridan tax office burglary. Sheriff Carr Earl Behringer Mrs Velma Golden Joe White Doyle J Borchers and Kan eer Perry Decker traveled to Meridian to identify the pair. In Clifton a large turnout elected F. W. Stevens mayor with 277 votes to 187 for Charles Isenhower. Calvert G. Helms and Homer McDougal won council seats with 301 and 229 votes respectively. Clifton Cubs Enter Complete Team for District Track Meet
Clifton High will send a full squad to the District Track Meet at Waco municipal stadium this Saturday April 6 with field events and preliminaries starting at 4:45 AM and finals in selected events in the afternoon session beginning at 1:30 PM. Coach Aubrey Roberts names the Cubs competing in shot put discus high jump broad jump polo vault sprint relays 880 and 100 yard dashes 440 and 220 yard runs high hurdles low hurdles mile and mile relay with entries limited to three per event. Gustave A. Gondran aged 64 years six months and twenty three days died at 7 25 am Wednesday April 3 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home hospital where a patient since the previous Friday He was born September 10 1898 in Donaldson Louisiana and lived much of his life near Lake Charles He came to the Sunset Home May 17 1960 from the Veterans Hospital in Waco He is survived by two sons John A Gondran of Tulsa and Gustave A Gondran Jr of Houston Funeral services were held at 3 pm Thursday April 4 at the Sunset Home Chapel conducted by Franklin James Ruetz Jr Rector of Hillsboro Episcopal Church Interment was in Clifton Cemetery

Good to choice steers and yearlings brought 21 to 23 dollars, cows and calves traded 150 to 235 dollars, and butcher and bull lots ranged up to 19.50 and 34 dollars respectively.
