Clifton welcomes over 100 athletes from 30 plus schools and their coaches and fans for the Annual Cub Relays. The Record notes top state talent will compete and praises Clifton’s well kept track, organized meet, and warm local hospitality. Local businesses are urged to display welcome signs before Saturday.
Governor Connally opened Texas Industry Week with the first Annual Governor's Conference on Industrial Expansion in Austin on April 3. Speakers included John D. Harber of Aluminum Company of America and James J. Ling of Ling-Temco-Vought, focusing on stimulating local industry growth and expansion.
The Bosque Farmers Union held a Get-Acquainted Supper on Saturday March 23 in Meridian school cafeteria. President Finis Williams welcomed new members and visitors. Jay Namen of the Texas Farmers Union spoke on the National Convention in Minneapolis March 17 20 with President Lyndon B Johnson addressing attendees. Verliefed topics included anti corporate farming competition price bargaining credit for farmers and livestock marketing. President Namen highlighted the Washington Fly-In Program and plans for Texas fly-ins. Charles Brannon will speak April 29 at Stephenville Tarleton State College Dining Hall at 7 p.m.
