Easter Music Set Brings Clifton High Choir to Bettis Auditorium

On Sunday April 7 at 3 p.m. Clifton High School Choir will be joined by a Junior High Choir of 31 voices and a 6th grade class of 39 for a public Easter Music Program in Bettis Auditorium. The program features sacred anthems and the Easter story in hymns with a Benedictine Plainsong by an eight member girls’ octet. Jane Olson will accompany. Patsy Ruth Lancaster directs. Lottie Bettis handles stage direction.

New City Sales Tax Begins in Clifton and Waco Areas

Clifton joins 146 Texas cities in starting a 3 percent total sales tax on purchases, 2 percent for the state and 1 percent for the city. The tax is one charge and collected for the state. local revenue goes back minus a state fee. Merchants and shoppers will feel a 3 percent levy from 17 cents upward, with 3 percent replacing the former 2 percent.
