Bosque County Forms Program Building Committees

In Bosque County, 34 community leaders attended the Program Building Committee meeting on April 4 in Meridian to elect officers. John Gilliam was named CPBC chairman, with Jim Jones as vice chairman and Mrs. J M White Jr. as secretary treasurer. Four committees were formed Youth, Aging, Community and Resource Development, Agriculture to set long term objectives and plan projects and programs. Committees will update county data and aid in rewriting the CPS Handbook from 1963. Chairmen seek input via their contacts or the County Extension Office.

DPS warns four days left for 1968 vehicle inspection

The Texas Department of Public Safety says only four days remain to obtain the 1968 inspection sticker with more than two million cars still needing inspection. A DPS spokesman reported lines already forming and expected to grow as the deadline nears.

Local Elections Quiet Despite Valley Mills Turnout

Local city and school elections across the county were mild with light voter turnout. Clifton voters re-elected incumbents in part while a close aldermen race occurred, and Meridian approved a 1 percent city sales tax on 104 to 30 with 137 ballots cast.

The group moved to adjust dates for a 3 day volleyball tournament to avoid Spring Festival, now set for April 17, 19 and 20, with a Donkey Basketball game planned for May 4.
