In Bosque County, 34 community leaders attended the Program Building Committee meeting on April 4 in Meridian to elect officers. John Gilliam was named CPBC chairman, with Jim Jones as vice chairman and Mrs. J M White Jr. as secretary treasurer. Four committees were formed Youth, Aging, Community and Resource Development, Agriculture to set long term objectives and plan projects and programs. Committees will update county data and aid in rewriting the CPS Handbook from 1963. Chairmen seek input via their contacts or the County Extension Office.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says only four days remain to obtain the 1968 inspection sticker with more than two million cars still needing inspection. A DPS spokesman reported lines already forming and expected to grow as the deadline nears.

Local city and school elections across the county were mild with light voter turnout. Clifton voters re-elected incumbents in part while a close aldermen race occurred, and Meridian approved a 1 percent city sales tax on 104 to 30 with 137 ballots cast.
Over 100 athletes from more than 30 schools, including Shaw of West and Porter of Dawson, are slated for the Clifton Cub Relays. Host coach Aubrey Roberts notes top state talent, with events advancing from preliminaries at 1:30 p.m. to finals and trophy presentations by 9:30 p.m.
The grand jury reports it has been in session one day and presents 22 true bills of indictment. It notes appreciation for remarks on international affairs in East Asia and concerns over rising crime and burglaries in the county.

The Bosque County Farm Bureau will hold its regular monthly meeting in Meridian at the School Cafeteria on April 16. The event is billed as a candidate night with discussions expected at the gathering.
Clifton VFW Post invites all members their families and guests to Family Night on Saturday April 13 with a covered dish supper at 6 p.m. Event aims to strengthen post ties and community support.
Clifton Jaycees and Jaycee Ettes met at City Hall where State Sen. J. P. Word spoke on state government operations and current issues. He explained party politics from precinct to national levels and answered questions. The group moved to adjust dates for a 3 day volleyball tournament to avoid Spring Festival, now set for April 17, 19 and 20, with a Donkey Basketball game planned for May 4.
