Moline Construction Expands With Multiple Local Projects

The Moline Construction Company, based in the Laurence Jackson Building, advances several builds in Clare and Mt. Pleasant. Projects include a 30 by 60 cinder block warehouse on US-10, a 58 by 80 Chrysler Plymouth garage on North Mission, and a 60 by 80 DeSoto Plymouth dealership on South Mission. Groundbreaks cover a 40 by 68 cinder block sales and service garage for Tip Schultz, a 60 by 66 two story addition for Seiter Brothers Lumber, and an 18 by 20 brick City pumping station. The firm also handles a new boiler for Clare Public School, remodels for Murl Houghton, and other oil field and Vandewarker building work.

Basil O'Connor to address NBC on Red Cross postwar work

Basil O'Connor will speak on NBC this Friday September 28 from 9 45 to 10 p m. He outlines postwar Red Cross operations at home and overseas focusing on veterans services civilian relief and peacetime transition while continuing wartime tasks.

The Clare Kiwanis Club hosted Clare Public Schools faculty for their annual teachers night at Hotel Doherty. Dr. C. O. Davis praised Clare’s school as among northern Michigan’s top three and noted strong school spirit, with Supt. Farm Building Clinics in Clare County Next Thursday

A. J. Bell of Michigan State College will visit Clare county on Thursday October 4 to help farmers plan remodeling or new farm buildings. He will meet at Eugene Baughmann's farm in Hamilton Township at 10:00 a.m. and at Cecil Pudway's farm in Sheridan Township at 2:00 p.m. Farmers may request a home visit by sending details to the County Agricultural Agent.

Pfc Floyd P Black Honorable Discharged From Army

Pfc Floyd P Black returned home from Fort Sheridan Illinois after three years six months of service. He entered service March 18 1942 and served in India Burma and China for thirty three months earning the Good Conduct Medal Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon two Bronze Battle Stars on his P T C ribbon. He is at home with his parents Mr and Mrs Floyd Black at Brown Corners.

Reverend Noble Davis Accepts Call to Local Church

Rev Noble C Davis and his wife and infant son of Welland Ontario left Quebec on their return trip Monday after ten days with the Church of God congregation. He preached in all services and has been invited to pastor the church and plans to begin citizenship and spiritual work once crossing border and housing arrangements are settled.

Patricia Lyon laid at rest in Clare Cemetery

Patricia Lyon, born January 4 1930 in Granot county Michigan, died September 22 1945 in Clare at age 15 8 17. She was a Farwell High School student and leaves her mother four brothers and a twin brother Dick. Funeral services were held at Thurston Funeral Home with Rev Charles B Hahn officiating and burial in Cherry Grove cemetery.

Pioneers Rally To Beat Shepherd In Season Opener

Clare High's 1945 Pioneers overcame a shaky start to defeat Shepherd 7-6 on home turf. A blocked punt set Shepherd ahead 6-0, but Clare's line dominance and Bud Rodabaugh's scoring run and dropkick secured the comeback win.

Vandewarker Builds Large New Business Block on McEwan

Work on the Vandewar ker business block advances rapidly on North McEwan Street. The one story section measures 48.8 by 80.8 feet with cinder block and glass block walls and a brick front. One Killed and Six Injured in Area Traffic Crashes

One person died and six were injured in weekend traffic incidents around Clare and Harrison. Patricia Lyon 15 died at Clare Hospital after a crash on US-27 near Harrison involving Bernard Piotrowski 26. Others injured include Aida Braden 15 and Frances Withey 31 with multiple serious wounds.

Promotion Day Services Sunday at Clare Church

The Clare Methodist Church School will observe Rally and Promotion Day next Sunday September 30. Worship at 10 00 a m will include the theme and a consecration service for officers and teachers.
