The Clare Community Council gathered in the city library with Chairman Rodabaugh. Numerous organizations attended including American Legion Red Cross Social Aid and others. A roller skating rink project was discussed and candidates were named for the October 18 meeting. Glen Carpenter spoke on state veterans affairs and Harold Hughes outlined veterans counseling needs. Pioneers Defeat Standish in Wet Friday Football Thriller

Triplets Born Under Emergency Care Program in Michigan
Pvt and Mrs George Costello of Clare are parents of Michigan s first triplets under the Emergency Maternal and Infant Care Program for servicemen. The triplets Reginald Ray Rolland Jay Regina Kay weighed sixteen pounds fourteen ounces combined. The 19 year old mother is recovering as Dr H C Ballard and a medical team cared for the newborns. The father received a 15 day furlough and was flown home. The family has an 18 month old daughter Connie June.

Walter Caple Dies Suddenly in Mt. Pleasant
Walter W. Caple, 65, Mt. Pleasant florist, died Saturday night at his West Broadway home after a brief illness. Born June 21, 1880, at Baton Rapids Michigan, he moved to Alma as a boy and later ran the Mt. Pleasant greenhouse for 28 years. He was a life member of Alma Masonic lodge Ithaca Knights Templar Commandery past president of the Michigan Florists association and Mt. Pleasant Flks club. He leaves his wife Elizabeth two brothers Alva B of Toledo and William H of Clare and many relatives. Funeral rites were held Tuesday at 2:00 p m from the Mt. Pleasant home with Knights Templar avapicds Rev C W Mackenzie officiating and interment in Riverside Cemetery Alma.
