Last Year Violator Responds Promptly To Bench Warrant
James H. Bryan of Alberta Michigan pleaded guilty last year to a Michigan Apple Act violation for missing stamps on apples. He faced a $25 fine or 20 days in jail, given ten days to pay, and a bench warrant was issued when not paid by September 14. He paid the fine within four days of the warrant. Police also reported Frank Baker speeding in a school zone and Thad Wilsey, an escaped mental patient, was recaptured and returned to Battle Creek. Two bicycles were reported missing, one found hanging in the city water tower.

Tom Presley son of Walter Presley of Sheridan township and Clare High School 1936 graduate has built a radio shop at 4815 Monroe St Fort Wayne Ind. He joined the Army in 1940 then the Air Force in 1942 before serving in infantry. After the GI Bill he earned a diploma and now repairs radios from war surplus parts aiming to obtain a transmitter license in September to become a licensed ham operator with a growing collection of five transmitters and six receivers.

Motorcycle skid delays trip to Finland bound rider

The device bettered hand releasing with birds ready to fly and unable to fly away before being pointed by dogs. King's Chief General, Stuart’s five year old setter, shows a pheasant during a trial. the dog has 17 open wins. The two size releasers, aluminum and wood, throw birds five to eight feet when tripped, and are finished in dead grass green to blend with terrain.

County Health Unit Director Wins U of M Public Health Scholarship
Dr. Irwin C. Sweet, director of the Tyi County Health Unit, will begin at the University of Michigan School of Public Health on September 24, 1951. He received a one year United States Public Health Service scholarship via Michigan State Department and will return to lead the unit after completing his master’s in public health.
