Arthur Citizen Dies Following Brief Illness
Clarence Shull born February 8 1878 at Gahanna Ohio. He farmed and joined the Presbyterian church at nineteen. He married Anna Edman March 3 1895 and moved to Clare County Michigan with three children in 1904. He served as Justice of the Peace and school board director, admired for his counsel and community efforts. Continues on Page Ten.

County Fair Opens as Crowd Gathers Despite Rain

Edward Ward Waller known as Ward died in New Orleans after weeks of illness from a rare vascular disease. He grew up in Clare and served in the air service during World War I before rising to management roles in Ford dealerships in New Orleans and Mississippi. He later founded a supply company in McComb and was active in local commerce and road development. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Burdette Lob Waller of New Orleans, two children, and his parents and brothers.

Warren R Keith born February 8 1847 in Steamburg New York died September 6 1931 at age 84. He married Emma Thompson in 1872 and had seven children. He moved to Michigan in 1878 settling on farms in Grant and Sheridan townships. Funeral at the Keith home conducted by Rev Frank Bates. burial in Cherry Grove cemetery.

The plan is to reorganize into a non stock non profit ten year college of fine calibre under new leadership with a still undecided new president and current curriculum to remain largely unchanged.

The Utilities Information Bureau reports Michigan’s oil and natural gas activity reviving after months of quiet due to low crude prices and limited pipeline outlets. Activities center on the Mt. Pleasant Midland fields in Chippewa and Midland counties, with new work spreading northwest to southeast through Clare Isabella Midland Gratiot and Saginaw counties.
