Clarence Shull, respected resident of Arthur township, died Wednesday afternoon at Samaritan hospital Bay City after a brief illness and appendicitis operation. The body was brought to Clare by ambulance and the funeral will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM from the Arthur town hall.

Charles Allen, lifelong Vernon Township resident with farming years in Arthur Township, died early Wednesday at Memorial Hospital St Johns after a yearlong heart illness. He was born August 19 1886 to Dewey and Harriet Allen and married Edith Jordan in June 1421. Survived by four sons Dewey Shirley Myron Melvin and Reynard a daughter and a sister Mrs Grace Bagley. Wm. Francis returning to Alt Pleasant after visiting his daughter at Ed Johnston's home ran into trouble one and a half miles south of Clare. He swerved into a ditch to avoid an oncoming truck driven by John Bruckart, who likewise turned aside to avoid a crash. Francis’s car struck Bruckart’s truck on the front and side, causing extensive damage but injuring no one.
