Arrangements for the 1944 Saginaw Fair September 19 to 16 are in the final stages. The grandstand show will be state fair caliber with acrobats animal acts and thrill acts. A circus and state champion horse pulling contest are featured with premiums totaling $800. Percheron horses and Hereford cattle displays are planned with state and county premiums of $2453 and $1365. War stamp bonuses will accompany agricultural and other department checks.

Former Clare Resident Has Children Serving in Army
Charles Ira Butcher, longtime Clare resident now with Reynolds Metals in Louisville, boasts his daughter Helene Mae Butcher in the WAC stationed in Hawaii since March 1943 and his son Pfe William Henry Butcher in Italy for almost a year. Loretta Jean Butcher helps by bringing his meals at 11 each day. Iva, known locally with one arm, has an excellent attendance record. Both Helene and William attended Clare and Gladwin High Schools.

Michigan farmers and families are invited to visit the college on Thursday September 7 to inspect wartime agricultural projects and the 29th annual state 4-H show September 5-8 on campus. Guided tours, office consultations, and picnic facilities are offered. The event features dairy cattle beef cattle horses sheep and swine displays with about 1200 livestock from 4-H clubs and an evening Michigan Cattle Feeders meeting at 8 09 p m in the horticultural building followed by a 4 H livestock parade dress revue and citizenship ceremony at the stadium.

Butter Outlook Improves For September Food Plans
The War Food Administration announced more butter will be available in September due to relaxed military demand. The Office of Price Administration has cancelled plans to raise butter points from sixteen to twenty, though higher value may come if winter production strains occur. Washington reports the War Production Board lifted the ban on ammunition sales to hunters, enabling the first real hunting season since the war began.
