Coleman Contract Up For Approval

Coleman Board of Education and the Coleman Education Association reached a tentative two year master contract retroactive to October 1 1969. Ratification by both sides is needed to end the dispute and drop litigation including $10 000 damage suits. Teachers will cover half the losses from the September seven day work stoppage.

Mr and Mrs Frank Simpson and Dorothy Simpson hosted weekend guests Bob Earle of Barryton and his wife amid a 21 year gap since Bob left Clare for California. Bob is the son of Erma Glass and the late Jim Norwood. Ted Norwood and family also visited.

Special Election to create Clare Gladwin Probate District

Voters in Clare and Gladwin counties head to the polls on Tuesday November 4 to decide on forming a Probate Court District. The district would hire one full time judge and pool salary with the state. passage ends the old per county part time system.

Coleman Voters Reject Additional Millage

Coleman voters rejected a 3.8 mill request for extra school expenditures in a special election Monday. The final tally was 549 against and 219 in favor with property owners 539 no 205 yes and nonproperty owners 14 yes 10 no. The millage would fund a new elementary school additions to the high school library and a bus drivers building.

One Car Crash Sends Farwell Man To Hospital

Farwell resident Timothy Weaver, 393 Hall Street, sustained minor injuries after a single vehicle left W Fifth Street early Sunday. Weaver reported he lost control, hit a guard rail, struck a pole, and broke it. Police cited him for reckless driving. his car was towed from the scene.
