Three Injured In Car Wrecks In Past Ten Days
In Clare two drivers Paul Nass and Daniel Czyzewski were hurt when they swerved to avoid a collision on US-27. Nass suffered a leg fracture and hand injury and was expected to stay about ten days. Czyzewski mistook a tail light for a headlamp. In Saginaw Charlie Prather, 40, sustained facial cuts and bruises after losing control while avoiding racing cars at South Washington and Hast Streets. Vehicle damage was about $800, plus $200 for a pole and fence.

Whites Rebuild Greenhouse After Summer Fire
Whites Greenhouses and Nursery have rebuilt after a summer fire. The large house of 28 by 110 feet holds about 5000 chrysanthemums and 1100 carnations, with thousands more plants blooming or near bloom. A 40 by 10 feet house propagates stock and nursery items, and a 60 by 7 feet house contains late chrysanthemums. All plants were propagated last winter and replanted after reglazing.

Lake Soldier Arthur Fahnestock interred in Garfield Township
The remains of Pfc. Arthur Fahnestock of Lake were returned from overseas for funeral services at Lake town hall, with interment in Garfield Township Cemetery. He was born in 1916, served in Fort Custer and Camp Butner, fought on Attu, Hawaii, the Marshall Islands, and Leyte, where he died December 5, 1944 in Co A 37th Inf 7th Division. Survived by sister Dorothy and half-brother Delos Lehman plus other relatives.

Service Clubs Entertain Scouts at Clare Cedar Park
Clare Rotary and Clare Kiwanis jointly hosted a Halloween feed for 52 Clare Boy and Cub Scouts at Cedar Park Wednesday evening. A bonfire lit the grounds as the group consumed 30 pounds of wieners 18 dozen buns and 12 pounds of marshmallows while winners were named in games Scoutcraft and running events.

Gerald Campbell aged 24 of Gladwin county pleaded guilty to reckless driving after a collision with Municipal Justice Wm. B. Dunlop in August and received one year probation. The libel case against Spike Meyer is expected this circuit term after a prior justice court verdict and immediate circuit court demand. Elton Mogg of Clare was fined after crossing a yellow line in a school zone. An escapee from Traverse City Hospital was spotted hitchhiking on US 10 near Coleman, described as 26, 5 feet 6 inches, wearing a blue checked mackinaw.
