Two Men Confess to Stealing Groceries from Cars
Felix Ferdinand Raymond Pelcher and Rolland Musgell were arrested after confessing to thefts from parked cars in the city. Pelcher and Pelcher faced Justice Fred Hudgon and received fines plus costs or 60 days in Harrison County Jail. Musgell received three dollars in costs and 90 days probation after pleading guilty. Lyle Waite, charged with hunting without a license, pled guilty and was fined and fined costs.

Rural Districts to Take Active Part in Red Cross Drive
Clare County prepares for the annual Red Cross roll call with Chairman Paul Lowrey appointing a countywide committee. The Clare and Isabella District Association Independent Order of Odd Fellows met at Brinton with about 200 present to elect 1939 officers. District President Alexander Wylie and District Vice President Jesse Lee were re elected along with other 1938 officers. Mrs Lee’s illness prompted opposition to promoting Jesse Lee to chief role. Gladwin Man Killed Instantly In Auto Crash
Omer Grove of near Gladwin was killed instantly in a two car crash two miles east of the Cornwell farm on the Gladwin road Tuesday afternoon. His son Elza was unconscious, and Howard Allen with Carl and Frank Seibert of Olivet were hurt. Coroner Friz ruled it an unavoidable accident with no inquest.

Buck Steers of the State Aeronautical Commission reviewed aviation progress since the Wright brothers and noted 137 licensed Michigan airports and 64 daily Detroit airport operations.
