Farwell approves millage full-day classes start Monday

Farwell School District voters approve 11 mills for operations and 1 mill for a year. Full-day instruction resumes Monday with 8 30 a m to 3 15 p m schedule and a hot lunch program. New school board to replace resignations and superintendent Harold Elen haas resigns at year end.

Four Candidates Vie For Three Clare City Commission Seats

Clare residents will elect three of four candidates including incumbent A J Doherty and Robert Walters along with Thomas Johnson and Carl R Stephenson. Each candidate presents plans on growth, zoning updates, funding, and city development projects for Clare.

Trick or Treat Slated for Oct 30 in Clare

Clare residents will celebrate Halloween with door to door trick or treat from 6 to 9 p m on Saturday October 30. Police chief Elly Tice urges parental supervision and careful mask wearers while checking collected treats. The Clare Jaycees and VFW sponsor a free teen Halloween dance October 29 from 7 to 12 at the VE Hall with Kaycees band cider and donuts. UNICEF day events October 31 start at 6 p m with canvassing door to door coordinated by local churches.

Grant Township Votes on Zoning Referendum

Grant Township residents face a November 2 ballot question to repeal the Zoning Ordinance adopted July 8 1976 after years of planning hearings. Officials say the ordinance enables orderly growth amid fast expansion and allows local planning with appeals variances.
