Clare County Chapter Red Cross members met at Mrs John Nelgons home with Mrs Ballad of Ann Arbor as guest. Emma Johnson reported county progress and strong parental cooperation in public health work. A home hygiene class with twenty Farwell schoolgirls organized.
A Canadian Pacific ship passenger letter describes Montreal departure, crossing the Gulf of St Lawrence, onboard antics, deck games, and non stop jazz. The party notes friendly crew, two sittings for meals, and plans to reach Southampton by October 3 with a possible stop in Brussels.
Two years have passed since we laid our wife and mother away on October 28 1926. The verse speaks of a smile through pain and a Heavenly birth while heaven keeps a treasured earth. The family Ira Root Aviee and Bernice Root note the sainted mother sleeps and the sunbeams linger.
The Clare Realty Company of Clare, long led by Tony Achard, former state Senate candidate, was bought Friday by A. S. Crigier of Harrison, ex sheriff of Clare County. Crigier will assume control immediately. Achard had steered the firm, which handles fire insurance, not real estate, until about a year ago.
The funeral for Mrs. Elsie Stinson of De troit was held Sunday afternoon at her brother L. H. Thompson’s home in Clare. Rev A P MacDonald officiated with burial in Cherry Grove cemetery. Survived by husband Edward Stinson and five children. she previously lived in Sheridan township and western Canada before returning to Michigan.
A dairy proprietor informs cream and egg patrons that after November 1 he will join Home Dairy Co. and relocate to a building under construction opposite his current West Fourth Street location. He asks patrons to continue their support at the new site.
A letter from Miss B Louise Bruske of Long Branch New Jersey renews interest in the Sentinel. She recalls Clare high school band instrumental instruction and asks to hear them play. Mrs A E Hunt of Niland California also stays in touch reporting 104 acres of grapefruit in Imperial Valley and twenty six years since leaving West Grant community.
The infant son Leon Leroy Smith of Merrill died one day after birth on October 16. Funeral services were held at home conducted by Rev. Holley of Ros EP ush officiating. Interment followed at Farwell Cemetery.
Mrs. Fred Irwin thanks friends and neighbors for cards letters flowers plants and personal calls received while in the hospital. The appreciation notes the support cheered and helped pass the time.
Mrs. Charles Calkins of Lansing died Monday evening after a hospital operation. A longtime resident, she had lived in this city many years. Funeral services were held at her home and the remains were taken to Saginaw for interment.

The Baptist church begins a gospel mission series on Wednesday evening November seventh with the pastor guiding two young men, noted singers and preachers, consecrated to the work. An earnest invitation goes to all who love the Lord to attend the first meeting and to newcomers to Jesus to join the welcome. Come Wednesday evening November seventh.
Mrs. John Stough expresses gratitude to neighbors and friends for flowers potted plants and letters sent during her stay at Samaritan hospital noting appreciation and kindness.

The Colonville Ladies announce their annual New England supper to be held in the church basement on Thursday evening in November. Proceeds will support church outreach and community programs.
Rev. H. B. Johnson of this city will tour Manistee and Gratiot counties next week under the Republican State Central Committee. He will speak several times daily and deliver evening addresses at Bear Lake Brethren St. Louis and Ithaca, bringing statewide speaking experience to the campaign.
Mr and Mrs L B Hampton and Mr and Mrs Burnie Hampton of Harrison returned from a 5000 mile auto trip to Aurora Colorado where they visited Frank Hampton. They praised the new Model A Ford for performance on mountains and long drives. Deer hunting near Denver yielded trophies and an incident with a club mix up on a Denver course halted golf play for Ike Hampton.
Gladwin High was overwhelmed by Clare High on Ward's Field, falling 56 to 0. Clare dominated, scoring on multiple drives as Grover, Johnson, Elearns and Hearns contributed with passes and runs, while Gladwin struggled to gain first downs and lost several opportunities.
A good time party will be hosted Friday night at the home of Mr and Mrs Warren Parsell near Herrick. A welder roastard and homemade ice cream will be enjoyed with everyone welcome.
October 27 to November 2 features Four Walls with Jno Gilbert and The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Comes with Richard Barthelmus through Sun and Mon. Tuesday and Wednesday present Warming Up with Richard Dix and a baseball league game. Thursday offers The Shield of Honor with Ralph Lewis and Collegians. November previews Grip of the Yukon Kit Carson Butter and Egg Man Sorrel and Son Harold Teen and Michigan Kid among others.
